Nairobi Weather Office Apologizes for Unauthorized Tuesday

Nairobi — The Regional Weather and Calendar Office apologized Tuesday for allowing Tuesday to proceed without authorization after a late-season pressure system arrived carrying only Monday paperwork.

Residents first noticed the irregularity at dawn, when alarms rang normally but radio presenters repeatedly described the morning as subject to confirmation. Schools opened on a provisional basis. Banks accepted deposits but warned customers that interest earned during an unauthorized weekday might be returned to the sun.

Chief forecaster David Otieno said the office had approved scattered showers, light traffic, and a normal Tuesday. The day that appeared included strong opinions, one missing bus, and an unexpected meeting, placing it outside the permitted range.

Inspectors asked Tuesday to pause while its documents were reviewed. It declined and continued at sixty minutes per hour, the maximum speed allowed under regional time regulations. By lunch, officials conceded that stopping it might create a backlog of Wednesdays.

The office therefore issued temporary recognition valid until midnight. Anyone who made a major decision was instructed to keep the decision in its original packaging in case the date must be recalled.

Wednesday is expected to arrive on schedule. Forecasters place confidence at seventy percent, increasing to ninety after it has happened.
