Every article, headline, quotation, statistic, document and photograph on this site is fiction. Nothing published here is a report of real events, and nothing on it should be read as a statement of fact about anyone.
The officials, agencies, institutes, companies and experts quoted in our stories do not exist. Where an invented name resembles a real person or a real organisation, the resemblance is accidental, and nothing in the story is intended to describe them or to be understood as true of them.
The photographs are generated by software. They are not photographs of real events, real places or real people, and the people in them do not exist.
Please do not rely on any of it
Nothing here is news. Nothing here is advice of any kind, legal, medical, financial or otherwise. If a story appears to describe a real product, company, agency, law or event, it does not, and you should not act on it.
Reader-generated stories
Readers can generate stories of their own. Those appear in the reader
section at /user/ and are held to a different standard from the
front page. They are generated on request, they are not edited by us, they do
not appear on the front page, they are not indexed by search engines, and they
are not endorsed by this publication or by anyone who works on it.
If you generate a story, you are responsible for what you asked for. These rules apply, and the first one applies everywhere on this site without exception:
- Do not name a real living person. Not as a subject, not in a quotation, not in a caption.
- Nothing that attacks or demeans people for who they are.
- Nothing shaped to be believed as a genuine factual claim about a real organisation or a real event, and nothing at all touching elections, public health emergencies, or accusations of crime.
- Nothing unlawful.
We may remove any reader-generated story, or an entire reader space, at any time, for any reason, without notice and without explanation.
By generating a story you give us permission to store it and display it on this site. You keep whatever rights you have in what you wrote; we are not claiming ownership of it.

The text and the images are produced by software, from prompts written by the editors or by readers. Quotations were not spoken by anyone. Photographs were not taken by anyone. No real source was interviewed for any story here, because there are no real sources.
If a story mentions you, we will take it down
If anything on this site names you or your organisation, or you believe a story could be mistaken for a description of you, write to [email protected] and we will remove it. You do not need a lawyer, a form, or a reason, and we would rather take something down than argue about it.
