Corporate Wellness Program Offers Employees Free 15-Minute Window to Regret Career Choices

The benefit covers a brief assessment of how things turned out, with additional reflection available out of network.

CHICAGO — A corporate wellness program will give employees a free 15-minute window each month to regret their career choices, providing what the company described as a structured opportunity to consider why this is where they are.

The benefit can be booked through the same portal used to request printer access. Employees select a vacant meeting room, identify the earliest decision they wish to revisit and agree not to use the session to perform any activity that could result in a different job.

'We recognize that professional well-being includes moments of honest reflection,' a human resources spokesperson said. 'We also recognize that those moments need an end time.' A reminder sounds at minute 12 so participants can begin returning to a workable interpretation of their circumstances.

The company supplies a chair, a glass of water and a worksheet asking which aspects of the employee's dissatisfaction can be reframed as personal growth. The section concerning compensation directs users to the next annual review cycle.

Managers may attend if they believe the regret could benefit from context. Employees who decline manager participation will be asked whether they are comfortable sharing that preference in a team setting during the next well-being check-in.

Unused minutes do not roll over. Workers requiring longer to trace the sequence from an ordinary internship to their present calendar can purchase additional reflection through a preferred provider, subject to the plan's annual existential deductible.

The company said participation was voluntary. Completion rates will appear on the departmental dashboard.
